What can account for these reaction strengths?

  • Cell #3 being 2+s and other D-positive cells being 2+
  • Cell #5 being w+

Panel cell #3 is positive for both D and E antigens. Other 2+ cells have D only.  As well, the probable genotype of the donor is R2R2, which is known to have more D antigens per red cell.

Cell #5 has only the E antigen and in a single does (E+ e+).
