Kieran Biggins, FIBMS, RT- IH (CSMLS)

Kieran is the Transfusion Safety/Quality Coordinator for Alberta Health Services - South Zone, based in Lethbridge, Alberta. He is also the President of the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine (CSTM).


  • Born and educated in Scotland
  • Emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1981
  • Married with 3 children all residing in Alberta


1974 - 1981 Glasgow and West of Scotland Blood Transfusion Service - Bench Tech.

1981 - 1990 Rh Laboratory in Winnipeg - Supervisor/Bench Technologist

1990- 2002 Blood Bank Laboratory at Lethbridge Regional Hospital and subsequently Chinook Health Region - Supervisor

2002 - 2009 Transfusion Safety Manager, Chinook Health Region, Lethbridge

2009 Transfusion Safety/Quality Coordinator for Alberta Health Services – South Zone
